Weekly Email for Sept 28th

Shanah Tovah! Happy New Year!

As I sit in a coffee shop writing this email, I can help but notice the orange leaves in the distance. You know what that means? Sukkot is almost here! And you know what that means? It’s time to build our Sukkah! We’ll be building our Sukkah on Wed 9/29 and Thur 9/30. Please RSVP to azamansk@gmail.com to attend either night’s building. If you’re interested in helping decorate, please RSVP to rianagood@yahoo.com. In addition, if you’d like to join a meal or host a meal in the Moishe/Kavod Sukkah please e-mail Sean at me@hogan.com to arrange a time (and please make sure to pitch in with our sukkah building beforehand!) First come first serve. Also, we encourage you to check out the Workmen’s Circle Skill Share and Sukkot Celebration this coming Sunday.

Did you know that the Mussar for Young Adults Practice Group is now recruiting? Even if you missed the Mussar lecture, then you still have a chance to be part of the practice group. The Mussar practice group will meet biweekly over the course of 8 weeks and will provide the chance to engage in personal spiritual practice with a committed group of your peers. The group will be led by Rabbi David Jaffe, Dean at Gann Academy and an experienced Mussar teacher. In Mussar practice, we focus on elevating our Middot (Personality Traits) such as generosity, loving-kindness, patience, and gratitude. The goal of the practice is to use everyday life as spiritual growth. If you are interested in the practice group or have more questions, please email kirvainstitute@gmail.com. The dates of the group have not yet been set and will depend on the availability of the participants.

Lastly, have you ever thought about hosting Kavod Shabbat at your house?  It could be the whole crowd (aka “Kavod on the Road”) or just a few folks (“Kavodelehs” if you will) – or anything in between.  We’re doing some scheduling for the next few months, so if you’re interested, or have a whole bunch of questions, please email Julie at kavodontheroad@gmail.com by 10/7.
