Hi friends,
Hope everyone’s enjoying a wonderful day off today. As always, see below for a full list of upcoming events.
But first:
Registration for the second-annual Moishe/Kavod Community Retreat on June 19-21 is now open! Click here to register. We will be holding our retreat in the idyllic woods of Southern New Hampshire at the Barbara C. Harris Camp and Conference Center – only 1 hour and 45 minutes from Boston. It promises to be a fun-filled weekend of joyous community-building and planning, both structured and unstructured. A tentative schedule for the weekend can be found here, and keep in mind that if you can only join us for a portion of the weekend, you are still more than welcome to join us for that part.
Who should join us:
Anyone who has come to the house for a Shabbat or holiday celebration, been involved in one or more of our programs or campaigns, or simply feels connected to our community, and wants to strengthen ties with the rest of the community and participate in imagining our future together. Don’t worry if you haven’t been super-involved — here’s a chance to really connect.
Cost:
We are blessed to have received a Young Adult Community Grant from Combined Jewish Philanthropies to help make this retreat affordable. The cost for current Moishe/Kavod members is only $25. The cost for non-members is $60, but you automatically become a member when you attend the retreat!
Please make your check payable to Moishe/Kavod House, and send it by June 5th to our address:
165 Winthrop Street Apt. B
Brookline, MA 02445
And, finally, if you have any questions about whether the retreat is right for you, or if you feel that you need additional subsidy, please don’t hesitate to contact Ben at benjaminghealey@gmail.com.
We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
Warmly,
Ben, Aaron, Sarah and Margie
P.S. Also, check out our community members’ postings page this week for a special writing retreat being offered by fellow Kavodnik Gila Lyons in June, and remember that if you are still interested in getting involved in the ongoing series of important conversations regarding responses our community can take together in the face of the current economic crisis, you can do so.

Feeling Frustrated about the Economic Crisis? Wish that you could do something?
Are you or someone you know dealing with unemployment? Student loans or credit card debt? Can’t bear to read the news for fear of more economic collapse?
What if we could come together to imagine something better? Join the Moishe/Kavod House, the Jewish Organizing Initiative, Avodah and others to participate in a small gathering to share stories about how you and those you care about are being affected, and imagine solutions we could act on together. Similar conversations are taking place in communities of faith across the Greater Boston Area – be part of an interfaith, inter-generational, cross-class effort to address issues facing people across the Greater Boston Area. To participate, RSVP for one of the gatherings below. Space is limited, so please sign up ASAP!
