Just this week, you can join the women of our New Moon crew in celebrating Rosh Chodesh tonight, Thursday night we’re hosting the filmmaker behind a great new film called Predictable But Fun, on Friday night we’ve got Shabbat services and dinner, and on Sunday you can get engaged through a variety of arts, food and social justice opportunities.
So we’re looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

Rosh Chodesh Tammuz
Come celebrate the new moon this month with the Rosh Chodesh crew. This month will be an integration of Sivan, a month of receiving, and Tammuz, of seeing clearly and dealing with challenging obstacles.
We will be integrating themes from both months, learning how to receive energy from trees, root ourselves in place and to our passions, and moving forward on clear paths.
Come prepared to go outside, take off your shoes, and feel some leafy tree love.
Bring snacks if desired, and also let us know if you can’t make it, but would like to be brought into the circle!

Knitting Circle with Muslim American Society (MAS) Boston
Members of MAS Boston have invited Kavod House to join in their weekly knitting circle, titled “Stitch & Dhikr,” meaning “Stitch and Remembrance.” All genders and levels of experience welcome! Knit for someone you know, or donate your knitted item to Rosie’s Place, a Roxbury women’s shelter. Bring your own yarn and needles. Light refreshments will be served.

Charles River Beit Midrash: Guided Jewish Text Study
Join us for guided text study, including a 30-minute lesson, and then individualized study in pairs/Chevruta. Whether you are new to Jewish study or a veteran, this is a great opportunity to learn about Jewish tradition and thought, exercise your brain, and get to know great people. Learning and free, kosher dinner begin at 7pm.
Sponsored by Cambridge Minyan, Hebrew College, Moishe/Kavod House (through a generous grant from the Bronfman Youth Fellowships in Israel Alumni Fund), Washington Square Minyan, and Minyan Tehillah, and through a generous grant from the Young Adult Task Force of Combined Jewish Philanthropies, the Charles River Beit Midrash bridges communities from Brookline, Cambridge and beyond for serious text study dedicated to social justice issues in an open, non-denominational setting. Film Night — Meet the Film-Maker of Predictable But Fun
Predictable But Fun investigates love, marriage, and longevity with a partner, through the lens of our technology-embedded culture. The story is told by wedding-gown designers out of Israel and Palestine.
Their backgrounds, lives and art all differ notably, yet in their work, they find themselves having very similar conversations with their respective brides about their hopes, dreams, buying that perfect dress and… finding “The One.”
The movie is directed and produced by Grace Shulner.
Grace is a filmmaker and a technologist whose work confronts issues ranging from the Online-Offline dialog, Participatory Democracy, Social Media, and Online Usability. The movie is in its post-production phase.

Anti-Foreclosure Canvassing with City Life/Vida Urbana
For almost two years, Moishe/Kavod activists have been hitting the streets of Roxbury, Dorchester and Mattapan in partnership with our community allies at City Life/Vida Urbana. Together, we have been knocking on the doors of homeowners and tenants in properties that are in danger of foreclosure, connecting residents to legal services and to an anti-foreclosure movement that has been growing in strength.

With the new Administration in Washington, D.C., we are hopeful that more federal money will soon be going to help homeowners and tenants, rather than big corporations. But that won’t happen without a movement of people demanding change — and we have a chance to help City Life organize and mobilize the folks most affected.
