Hi folks -
Before jumping in to upcoming events, we wanted to let you know that unfortunately, Leah’s placement for her social work internship fell through because her supervisor had to go on early maternity leave. Leah and her school tried valiantly to find her another Boston placement but were unable, so she is now moving to Portland, ME and will not be able to live in the house. We are very sorry to lose Leah’s open-hearted presence, but hope she will visit often!
The good news is that, with the guidance of the housemate selection team, we swiftly found a fabulous alternative. Our beloved Michelle Sternthal hadn’t signed a lease yet, and was open to the possibilty of moving in. Michelle has been a dedicated member of our community, and we are thrilled to have her and grateful for her openness to take this level of leadership at such short notice.
On a programatic note, have you been reading the weekly e-mails, but not yet to make it to a Moishe/Kavod event? Join us for our Newcomers’ Shabbat (9/11/09). In addition, whether you’ve been to one shabbat or a million and one shabbats, we’d love to have you at our upcoming Shabbat Team Meeting (9/7/09). We’ll be discussing our fall line-up and planning Yom Kippur Breakfast and Shabbat in the Sukkah.
While we don’t have high holiday services at Moishe/Kavod House, our very own housemate (and rabbinical student) Margie Klein will be leading dynamic services at Northeastern University’s Hillel. Moishe/Kavod Members are welcomed to attend for a suggested donation of $18 (info on time and location to come soon). Other services in the area include Washington Square Minyan (free) and Temple Beth Zion (not so free), as well as Workmen’s Circle services/potlucks
Lastly, don’t forget that our 1st annual Board Elections and BBQ is right around the corner (9/13/09). Come catch up with friends, eat delicious food, and determine the future direction of the Moishe/Kavod community.
Until next time,
Alix, Annie, Margie, and Michelle
P.S. Congratulations to Adin, Sasha, and Lindsey on winning our 2nd annual Top Chef Competition!
