-Brookline or Cambridge, must be safe locations
-a building
-furnished is ideal, but ok without

JP Apt

We’re looking for two laid back women in their late 20’s,
early 30’s to sublet our place in Jamaica Plain from July 1-Aug 31.

It is the third/top floor, of a sunny apartment with lots of
common space and natural light & free laundry in the basement. It is a
great location, near a community garden plot, one block from #39 bus, close to
Forest Hills and James Gate pub AND a hop skip and downhill jump to the
arboretum. We usually have a bunch of plants around the place and are known to
host dinner parties occasionally. It’s important to treat our house as a home
and have worked hard to make it comfortable. We’re looking for somebody who
isn’t adverse to hanging out in common areas and being social but also able to
respect the need for personal space at times. Communication is key. We try to
keep things pretty tidy. LGBTQ friendly. No pets please.

This is a two month sublet, with no possibility of
extension.

There are two rooms available:
The smaller one is $558 each month, plus utilities, which
are reasonable.
The larger room is $583 each month, plus utilities.

for more information, please contact Leora at: mallach@rocketmail.com

Seeking Apt in Cambridge
Moving to the Cambridge area to start a masters program at Harvard and seeking a room in a shared apartment or roommates interested in apartment searching together.

I need a kosher kitchen and would like to be within a half an hour walking distance of the Harvard campus. I am shomer shabbat and would like to live with shabbat observant, or shabbat-respectful people. I can’t live with cats. I will be moving to the area in mid-August.

A little about me:
I’m a twenty-five year old female with a background in architecture and will be starting a masters degree in landscape architecture at the Harvard School of Design. I most recently was living in San Francisco, and am in Tel Aviv this year on a fellowship studying Hebrew and talmud, and working on mixed media art projects. I am looking for a living situation that is friendly, warm and kind, and values respect, direct conversation and honesty as a way of working out issues.

If interested, please contact me at mia.scharphie@gmail.com.

Great Room in JP! Available July 1.

Looking for a friendly roommate to fill a fairly large bedroom in a spacious Jamaica Plain apartment. The room gets good sunlight, hardwood floors, fairly quiet, and has a closet. The apartment has about five rooms, big living room, study/guest room, big kitchen, three bedrooms (you’d be the 3rd roommate), and a large rear deck that’s covered and great for lounging and grilling. The apartment is very convenient to the orange line at stony brook, about two-three blocks, and convenient to the 39 and 41 buses, also about a block or two away. The room is $467 a month plus utilities (gas, electric, internet/cable).

You should be responsible, pay your bills on time, and take initiative to clean up. We are two 25-year-old women, looking to live with a 20s/30s professional or student. We like to hang out together and have fun, and we also respect one another’s sleep and work schedules. Please email and let us know a little bit about yourself so we can set up an appointment to come meet us and see the apartment.

Davis Square for Sept 1

Right now, we’re three young professionals looking for a fourth roommate for September 1st.

I’m Sean (writing this) and one of my current roommates and a friend (Sara) are looking at places in Davis Square (hopefully 3-8min walk from the T around $650 per person). We’re looking for a fourth since it’s a lot easier to find four-bedroom apartments (and they tend to be a bit cheaper too).

We are:
* Two vegetarians (who happily live with non-vegetarians)
* Non-smokers
* Queer and/or queer friendly

We are not:
* Cat/dog friendly (due to allergies)
* Tall (but it could be useful if you are)
* Raptors on hoverboards (and hope you aren’t)

We’re currently looking at some places and it would be great to have you involved in the process. Ideally, the place would have a nice flow, allow for low-key get-togehers like potlucks, be on a side-street a tad away from the noise, but close enough to go out and have fun (and get to work on time via the T), and have in-building laundry.

We’re starting to look at places and have found some that are less than 5 minutes from the T, have in-unit-laundry, are nice and big, etc. We’d rather have a fourth before signing a lease so speak up quickly!

Email me at sp.hogan@gmail.com if you’re interested!

Sean.

Also, plenty of on-street parking. This rad apartment comes equipped with a dishwasher machine and free washer and dryer in the basement. The kitchen is reddish/orange, spacious, and well-stocked. The bedroom available is painted a vibrant green, has a handsome hardwood floor, two windows, and a closet. Additional perks: hardwood floors and lots of windows throughout, a small front porch great for growing basil, a larger back porch perfect for lounging in the sun while reading a good book, and a sizeable backyard with a compost system.

We enjoy opening our home to guests for Shabbes meals, potlucks, sing-alongs, game nights, movie nights, craft nights, and dance parties. We are excellent communicators with experience in communal living. Our favorite snacks are broccoli with tomato sauce and extra extra cheese, and toast with butter and raw honey. Yummy!

You are: mature, fun, friendly, peaceful, creative, Queer-friendly and clean. Looking for a home, not just a place to sleep. You like to cook and share meals together, think conscientiously about “treading lightly” in the world – buying local, reusing and recycling, composting, and being a thoughtful consumer. Interested in sharing information about events, parties, potlucks and community meetings, meals, jokes, stories, hugs, conversation, what’s new and good, what’s challenging, what’s on your mind. You like open and respectful communication and are able to attend monthly house meetings. You value relaxation. You have something to say!

JP Sept 1

Looking to build a home in JP? We are too.

Seeking two awesome roommates to share a 4 BR apartment in Jamaica Plain starting September 1. We’re still finding the right place, but you can expect rent to be roughly $550-650 per person. If you sign on soon, you’re welcome to come help us pick the place.

Who’s this “we”? We are Kavod regulars! Two graduate students — a 24 year old community organizer about to start rabbinical school and a 30 year old techie a few years in to his master’s degree. We aren’t hardcore partiers, but love hosting dinner for friends. There’s also Henry, a 10 year old affectionate black cat.

While we’re on the apartment hunt, we’ve spent a lot of time thinking about what we want our living situation to be like, and here’s what we’ve got:

- a living space that is irresistably cozy, welcoming, and sustainable
- housemates who are laid back, direct (not passive aggressive), flexible, and non-smokers (sorry, we’re allergic)
- GLBTQ-friendly
- an attitude that we are creating a shared *home*, not just co-existing. As busy as our lives get, we’ll still care about each other and make time to be a part of each other’s lives.

If this sounds like the kind of place you’d like to live, drop an email to yonaruth@gmail.com.

Spring/summer sublet in Brookline, available immediately

I’m looking for someone to sublet my beautiful two-bedroom apartment near Coolidge Corner in Brookline. Available ASAP, through the end of August; there is a possibility you might be able to renew at that point, but it’s not guaranteed. Female strongly preferred; non-smoking, no pets.

The apartment is on the third floor of a quiet brownstone. It has a nice-sized sunny living room which is partially furnished, and hardwood floors throughout. The kitchen is big and modern, with lots of counter and cabinet space and a built-in microwave. Note: I keep a kosher kitchen, but if you’re interested in the apartment and don’t keep kosher, let me know and we can discuss it. The room for rent is a large unfurnished bedroom. There are coin-operated laundry machines in the basement of the building.

The location is terrific: 7 minutes’ walk to the Green Line C or D, 3-4 minutes to the 66 bus, and about 5 minutes to Stop & Shop. Coolidge Corner is about 7 minutes away and Washington Square is 15-20.

I’m in my early 20s and am currently both working and studying. I’m looking for a roommate who’s respectful, considerate, reasonably quiet and clean, and open to communication.

Contact Sarah at lyrax17@yahoo.com.
