Four Moishe/Kavod co-coordinators live in the house, with a much broader group of young Jews engaged in helping to build our community and run individual programs. We hold Shabbat dinner or lunch most weeks and have at least a dozen other events every month that community members help plan. We follow the energy of our community in terms of the types of events we do, moving forward with new programming only when a sizable chunk of our members and leaders want to help make something happen. That way, we stay flexible and responsive as we build a community that meets the needs of people where they are now and then helps them grow as they get more involved.

Program areas
Shabbat and Holidays
We come together to celebrate Shabbat and the Jewish holidays as a community. We lead our own services, design our own programs, and strive to make our celebrations welcoming to young people from a diverse array of Jewish backgrounds. One might describe our festivities as “hippie traditional.” Join us sometime.
Social Justice
At the heart of our community is a commitment to tikkun olam. Our social justice programming is diverse, but all of it springs from a deeply held belief that the Jewish community has a special role to play in healing the world, that much injustice in our society is systemic, and that collective action is necessary to make lasting change. Come take action with us.
Learning
At Moishe/Kavod, we take seriously the idea that we are all life-long learners. In our community, there are regular opportunities to do text-study, to join discussion groups on specific issues, and to take classes that arise from the interests of our membership. What do you want to learn?
Arts
Artistic expression is central to the human experience. It is spirit-sustaining and community-building. Our arts programming follows the energy of our community members, and it takes many forms. So come over, and let the creativity flow…
And let’s not forget…
Ministry of Fun
We have a good time together – that’s all there is to it. The highlight of the Ministry is the annual Moishe/Kavod Color War…but rest assured that the fun continues year-round thanks to the work of our dedicated Ministers!
