This summer, join professional performance poet and old-time Kavodnik Shira Erlichman for an exclusive series of poetry workshops:
- Sunday June 28th: 5pm
- Sunday July 19th: 5pm
- Sunday August 16th: 5pm
The three workshops will build on one another, but they also stand individually, if you can’t make all three.
Each workshop will include a brief performance by Shira, followed by an energetic, hands-on explorations of saying the truth with lies, and on persona as a tool for revelation. Together we will experience the anarchic, delicious freedom of the page.
We will be asking for a $5-10 donation to go to the artist, but no-one will be turned away for lack of funds.
Shira Erlichman is a musician, poet, and artist based out of the Boston area. She recently toured the country with the nationally acclaimed Spilljoy Ensemble, and will be the fourth permanent member of the revolutionary spoken word tour The Elephant Engine High Dive Revival in Fall 2009.
Known nationally for her “original and compelling” writing voice, her work explores the persona poem, exploding notions of identity, and ping-ponging between curvaceous, rowdy humor and the rusted blade of terror. She has opened for Ani Difranco alongside Buddy Wakefield and is a loving member of the Whitehaus Family, an independent record label in Jamaica Plain, MA.
Shira is currently working on a book of poems, a book of visual art, and a solo CD. Check out her myspace here.
