Transition Team Mtg

Transition Team Mtg

Greetings Moishitos and Kavodies,

This Sunday afternoon, I had the honor of attending my very first Moishe/Kavod transition team meeting, and found myself in the middle of a wide-ranging, effectively facilitated discussion, one leg in a journey that the Team has been making over the past several months.

During this leg of the journey, the team first digested some of the feedback from Moishe/Kavod’s 2nd Annual Retreat and made some decisions about the Board based on the Board structure proposed at the retreat. We confirmed 9 as the total number of board members, including 4 housemates and 5 elected positions. We also chose September 13 as the date of our community town hall and elections.

With these decisions under our belts, we moved on to planning the Board Election process, and had a number of intense discussions with the goal of making sure the process would be as honest, inclusive, fair and positive as possible, recognizing the important role of leadership development in this process.

In the next couple of weeks, we will be honing the application and other election materials, so that the applications will be available and posted in early August.

We want to encourage everyone interested to apply.  We are hoping to have one-on-one meetings with people who might be interested to talk more about the job.  If you are think you might be interested in the board, please let us know, and we will contact you to schedule a 1:1.  If you know someone who you think would be qualified, please let us know, and we will reach out to that person.   We came up with the following timeline, which will be included in a Moishe/Kavod weekly email this week:

  • Week of July 13th, 2009  – Email timeline and notice to stay tuned for applications
  • August 1st: Applications Posted.
  • Shabbat (and additional non-Shabbat meeting)  after August 1st: Presentation about board positions and process
  • August 31st: Application Deadline
  • Sept 1st: Applications posted online for community to view
  • Sept 13: Town Hall and Elections
